Reopening Our Stores: Navigating The New Normal

This week, after months of slightly eerie silence on the high-street, retailers were given the go-ahead to re-open shops across the country. Whilst we’re eager to welcome back our community, we have taken the decision to take a little more time before reopening.
Simply put, we want to get this right – choosing to reopen when we meet the high level of safety required before we welcome you back. Our first priority has always been and will continue to be the safety of our customers and staff.

All our stores will be operating socially distanced shopping

Reopening our Stores

To ensure all our stores meet the required safety standards, we will be rolling out a phased reopening of our shop locations. From the 1st of July we will begin reopening our coastal stores, starting with Brighton and Falmouth with Hawksfield and St Agnes following on the 6th and 13th. Bath and Bristol are next on the list, followed by our other city locations in London, Exeter and Edinburgh. Our store teams are small, specialised and each have unique individual circumstances, so we will only open when we have met the criteria needed to open safely.

We’ve taken the time to seek out sustainable items which maintain our commitment to protect the sea; such as metal dispensers for hand sanitiser (cutting out plastic waste) and gloves made from our Leave No Trace material which are water soluble, recyclable, and biodegradable - breaking down harmlessly into non-toxic biomass in soil and sea. Like many of you, we’ve been deeply saddened by the rise in disposable plastic pollution since the beginning of this pandemic, and we have no intention of adding to this problem. We want to continue to lead the way as a sustainable company as we work towards becoming a positive impact business

What’s New in Stores?

We aim to provide a contactless shopping experience and, in order to maintain our high level of customer service, there will inevitably be some changes to our shops. We have been closely following the government guidelines and have implemented a host of new safety measures – from hygiene stations providing hand sanitiser to cashless payments, facemasks for our staff and creating the space needed for socially distanced shopping.

We will also be providing individual appointments, which customers can book online. The aim is to provide a more comfortable retail experience as we navigate the initial stages of reopening. We ask you to bear with us and thank you for your patience during this time.

Store Life after Lockdown

Those familiar with Finisterre stores will know that they are more than just shops. They are hubs for our community; places where like-minded souls can connect, providing experiential spaces that go beyond just selling clothes.

Our friendly, knowledgeable store teams can’t wait to welcome customers back, and we believe our physical shops will continue to play a critical role in our brand. Whilst it’s not possible to host our usual roster of events at the moment, these will continue online - providing a virtual space to engage with our brand and discover stories from our sea loving community.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our stores.
