The Bowmont Project

Welcome to the second instalment of our Notes from the Archive series as we look back on the incredible journey of the Bowmont Project; bringing superfine Merino wool production back to British shores together with Devonshire farmer Lesley Prior. Founder Tom Kay shares his memories and a personal perspective on the story, and the deep meaning it holds for us at Finisterre. From just 28 sheep - a breed on the edge of extinction - the flock now numbers over 300. Grown in Devon, and knitted in Manchester, the project is an enduring testament to our love affair with both wool and British manufacturing.
