NOAH'S ROAD TRIP ESSENTIALS.

Ambassador Noah Lane is in Australia getting some much needed warm sun after a winter chasing waves in the Northern Hemisphere, he has clocked up nearly 4000kms exploring the East Coast of Australia with his girlfriend. Here's what he took with him and why.

Surfboards.

I took 2 kinda normal shortboards for the slabs and reefs down south; a Beau Young fish that I've been riding loads and goes great in everything; and a 6'2 Cord single fin/quad hybrid for more juice. The longboard was Tara's and she dominated on that when it was small. Oh and there was the bodyboard cause I'd been all inspired hanging with JJ and Ben Player prior to the trip but ended up just messing with it as a stand up a few times.

The fishing rods and tackle box.

There was one each, my old faithful Alvey for the beach from when I was a kid; and a more tech Shimano. I'm not much of a fisherman but mostly we were chasing Whiting and small beach fish.

Axe and shovel.

These are both fixtures in the truck. I remember when we were young Dad used the axe loads when we were camping in remote areas but these days everywhere you camp is National Park and chopping down trees isn't cool so it was used for splitting the odd bought log. Even that was kinda rare as most places in Aus have pretty strict fire bans.

Tent, Swag/mattress.

We spent quite a few nights staying with friends down the coast (thanks everyone!) but as we got further south we stayed in a few awesome national parks. We spent a night or two in the back of the truck but then the tent became the main choice for nights. Our first night in the tent was probably the worst, torrential rain and wind but as they say, "character building".

Boots, Jacket, Water canister, backpack.

We did a few hikes/walks along the way. It's right on the turn of the seasons here and down south is starting to get pretty nippy so my Sastruga jacket has been the go to for those colder moments. I've always got my cannister close at hand as well; probably my biggest pet hate is bottled water. Highlight was the Pigeon House Mountain down near Ulladulla. Short and steep but totally worth the views from above.

Esky, Cooker, pots/pans, Jaffle Iron

The jaffle iron was/is a definite camp essential. I think they're pretty Australian but its basically a cast iron toasted sandwich maker. Great on fires and turns the contents to instant delicious molten lava.
